Level 300 Courses

TGA301 (Email) - Gorn Thesis

The Gorn Thesis is a unique course. To finish this course at The Gorn Academy a thesis in Gornology must be written. This course can only be taken after completing at least two LEVEL 100 courses and one LEVEL 200 course.  Note that if you do the project before the thesis then you must take two more LEVEL 100 courses and one more LEVEL 200 course that weren’t take as pre-requisites for the Gorn Project.

I've been asked "What is a thesis?" Well, according to the dictionary there are several definitions of the word thesis. For the Gorn Academy, we will use the following:

"A formal treatise on a particular subject; especially a dissertation presented by a candidate for an academic degree"

In the Gorn Academy, your treatise will be ... a story written by the student that deals with either his/her experience, or his/her ship's experience with the Gorn race. This will of course be a fictional account.

The story can be as long or short as you prefer, as long as it tells the whole story. Saying, "I was walking along a street one day and I met a Gorn," just doesn't get it. You must tell what your were doing, what happened after you met the Gorn, and what the conclusion of the experience was, etc. One page or longer would be fine, if it tells the story. Use your imagination and enjoy the assignment. Note also that the Gorn(s) must play a major role in your story.  You can not simply have a Gorn standing in the background watching what is happening.

TGA302 (Email) - Gorn Project

The Gorn Project is another unique course. To finish this course at The Gorn Academy a project must be completed.  This project can be anything you choose … a one or two page newsletter, a powerpoint presentation, a comic strip/book, a collection of paper dolls complete with clothing and weapons, or anything you can imagine.  Your project must be approved by the Gorn Academy Director before you submit it.  Contact the Gorn Academy Director with your proposal for the project before beginning.

This course can only be taken after completing at least two LEVEL 100 courses and one LEVEL 200 course.  Note that if you do the Thesis before the Project then you must take two more LEVEL 100 courses and one more LEVEL 200 course that weren’t take as pre-requisites for the Gorn Project.

TGA303 (Email) - Gorns on the Web

This course looks at different ways Gorn are portrayed on the World Wide Web. The student will need access to the internet to take this exam.

Note: You do not have to have an account or sign-up for anything to answer the questions, but you will need a working knowledge of how to search various websites, like Ancestry.com, YouTube. Facebook, etc., all of which will allow you to do a search without signing up for an account.

This exam can only be taken after completing at least two (2) Level 100 exams and one (1) Level 200 exam.
