Sherlock Holmes is a one-of-a-kind iconic figure in literature, stage, radio, film, television, and audio drama. Created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Holmes first appeared in publication in 1887.

Sherlock Holmes continues to reemerge time and again as each new writer or director envisions Holmes and Watson a bit differently. And we cannot have Holmes without Watson as the Chronicler of the adventures.

It really doesn't matter where Sherlock has his residence or in what place in time the story takes place, because as Steven Moffat says, "...Other detectives have cases, Sherlock Holmes has adventures, and that's what matters."

As Holmes might say, quoting Shakespeare, "...The game is afoot."
